SIMPLE AND PROJECTOR-READY

How to use the classroom timer

Choose a time

Pick a classroom preset or enter exact minutes and seconds. Add a short activity label so everyone knows what the countdown is for.

Put it on the board

Select Full screen or press F for a clean projector view. The end time and progress ring help students pace themselves.

Start the class

Start, pause, reset, or add one minute without rebuilding the timer. Turn on and test the optional end sound before students begin.

Useful classroom countdowns

30 seconds to 3 minutes

Use short timers for lining up, partner turns, collecting materials, quick reflection, or cleanup.

5 to 15 minutes

Keep warm-ups, exit tickets, discussions, presentations, and station changes moving.

20 to 60 minutes

Give independent work, reading, writing, quizzes, and exams one clear deadline everyone can see.

Classroom Timer questions

Is this classroom timer free?

Yes. It is free to use, has no ads, and does not require an account or download.

Can I use it on a projector or smartboard?

Yes. Select Full screen or press F. The high-contrast timer expands to fill the display, and Escape returns to the setup view.

Will the timer stay accurate in another tab?

Yes. The countdown uses the planned finish time instead of adding up animation frames, so it corrects itself after browser throttling.

Does it make a sound?

Sound is optional and off by default. Turn it on and select Test sound before class to check the device volume.
