Make an exact-size placeholder image

A placeholder image reserves space before final photography or artwork is ready. It helps a website, wireframe, presentation, or app keep the intended dimensions during design and testing.

Start with a common size

Choose a social preview, video, square, presentation, ad, banner, or avatar preset, or enter any custom size from 50 to 2,000 pixels.

Preview changes live

Adjust the label, background style, and colors. The preview updates automatically and warns when the text contrast may be hard to read.

Download the exact PNG

The preview scales to fit the page, while the downloaded file keeps the exact pixel dimensions you selected.

Placeholder image generator questions

What is a placeholder image?

It is a temporary image with known dimensions. Designers and developers use it to reserve visual space until final media is available.

Can I create a custom image size?

Yes. Enter any width and height from 50 to 2,000 pixels. The size badge and canvas preview update as you type.

Why is there a contrast warning?

The contrast check compares the text and background colors. A higher ratio makes the label easier to read. You can change either color or select Random colors.

Can I copy the image instead of downloading it?

Yes, when your browser allows image clipboard access. If it does not, Download PNG works in current browsers.

Are the fake profiles safe for testing?

The secondary generator uses reserved example email addresses, fictional places, and phone numbers from the 555-0100 through 555-0199 fiction range. Do not treat them as real people.

Does ScreenText save my image or test data?

No. The image and fictional details are created in your browser and are not uploaded. For sample copy, use the Dummy Text Generator or Lorem Ipsum Generator.
